Licorice Allsorts update from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've finished all the hand embroidered blocks for my Licorice Allsorts quilt, so now it's time to start machine piecing the other blocks.

There's actually one more embroidered block in my cupboard, but how do you fit 10 photos in to a grid!

Here's the first machine pieced block that sits in the centre of the quilt:

It's only 6" finished which is smaller than I imagined.  But I do love these colour combos and am looking forward to making more blocks next week.

Here's what the finished quilt will look like:

Licorice Allsorts from Wendy's Quilts and More

Material Obsession in Sydney, Australia sent out the last package for the Wendy Williams Licorice Allsorts Block of the Month last week.

So naturally I decided it was time that I actually started stitching this quilt before the next round of Block of the Months get released in July.

Don't get me wrong - I love this quilt, and I'm very keen to make it, but I just had too many other things on the go at once.  Even I have a limit of how many things I can juggle at the same time.

I love that this quilt ...

Happy memories from Wendy's Quilts and More

Yummy, yummy threads.

It's the last weekend in January, and Facebook reminded me that it's three years since I attended a Green Diamonds course with Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably.  I really enjoyed that day at Wellington Girls College, even though it was very hot!!

Kaffe commenting on my plan

I like to challenge myself when I go to courses, so I chose green and red as my colour palette.  You know I love green, but I don't often use red.

Last year I admitted that I was never going to make Green Diamonds. I'd cut ...

Doing Lots of Hand Work from Luann's Loose Threads

Hello Dear Readers

It's a beautiful day here in Indiana.  It's a bit cool, but the sun is shining and that makes everything better, right?  Of course it does.   I saw Patty on Tuesday, and she said she enjoys reading my blog.  It's always nice to hear that from a reader, so thanks Patty!

I've been using these winter months to look through my stash and decide what I think I will really use and what I can part with.   I have a whole lot of stash in containers in my basement, and they have kind ...

Tongariro Crossing (and the Peacock Party) from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've finished my Sue Spargo quilt and I love it.

Sue Spargo has called this pattern "Nature Trail", but my quilt doesn't look anything like a walk in the woods.  The colours in my quilt make me think of a volcano, so I'm calling my version "Tongariro Crossing".

The Tongariro Crossing is 20km (12 mile) hike across an active volcano in the middle of New Zealand's North Island.  Click here for details.  There are trees and birds at the start and end of the track, but up at the summit it's very barren and you ...
